CRITICAL CREATIVE REFLECTION

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project?

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

It's Here!

 Here is my completed brief!

And That's A Wrap!

I am writing this with much joy as I just completed filming and editing my brief! This was such an amazing experience, and I am very proud of what I produced. My brother was very cooperative during filming and provided great tips. Editing went very smooth and I found myself making improvements I didn't think about when planning.

I loved this experience, and it was definitely such a great time :)

What Made Me Choose My Title?

I decided on the title 'I Hate Wheels' due to how my opening story is going to work. Matthew and Chris both love riding their scooters and bikes; both have wheels, but Matthew's best friend is killed by a car crash, which is also a vehicle that has wheels. The title works because it causes Matthew to have this hatred of wheels, because if he and his best friend were never on something that had wheels, his best friend wouldn't have been killed by wheels.

Storyboarding

For a film to be of good quality, there must be a plan for how you want your shots to look, which is called storyboarding. Based on the script I wrote, I drew out my shots and how I want them to look, which I find to be very helpful in the filming process. It will allow me to rightfully position the tripod and also see how my actors will be placed. It is not perfect, but it is well-drawn enough for me to rightfully build my scene.

Scriptwriting

After brainstorming, I immediately got to writing my script, and afterwards, I will storyboard. I am a pretty fast writer, so I got my script done fairly quick but I also reread it to point out mistakes, and I only made spelling mistakes, but nothing major. I found my script to have a lot of emotion to it, and it will help me guide my actors' emotions a lot
easier.

I find the inclusion of the types of shots I want very helpful, as it will reduce filming time and give me a lot of time to edit. When filming, I will use a tripod to hold the camera, as it is a two-man crew, and we have very shaky hands, which would reduce the quality of my film.

Ideas

Before I begin writing my script, I began to brainstorm ideas, so I sat down with my brother, and we came up with two synopses, 1 synopsis per person. My brother's idea was very fitting with my genre, definitely something that will be a tear-jerker when created into a full-length feature film, though this is only a 2-minute opening.

My brother's (the main actor) idea for the brief

My idea for the brief

I read out both ideas, and we came to the conclusion that his idea was the superior one as it is more creative and better fits the conventions of my genre.
